The PS5 Pro runs a more powerful GPU than base PS5 — more compute means more heat. If you notice any of these, liquid metal service is overdue.
Noticeable fan spin-up during graphics-intensive titles even in a clean room. The vapor chamber needs full airflow — any dust restriction triggers early ramp.
Console shuts down under load with thermal warning. The larger GPU die means the liquid metal interface carries more heat — migration accelerates the issue.
Frame pacing issues or resolution drops in titles using PS5 Pro's upscaling. Thermal throttle reduces GPU clock before you can see temp readings.
Grey buildup around intake slots. The PS5 Pro's increased airflow demand means even moderate dust has a bigger thermal impact than on base PS5.
What overheating actually costs you.
A console does not wear out gracefully — it dies. And in the months before it does, it shuts down on you mid-evening.
It is not wear and tear. Chronic overheating takes out memory, the APU or the SSD. When one of those goes, no cleaning brings it back.
The PCB is green when it leaves the factory. Where it has been baking, it turns yellow-brown — and the joints under the APU crack or start to lift off.
On a board that far gone, taking it apart — carefully, as we do — can be what finishes an already-cracked joint. Sometimes it does not come back up. Better heard now than afterwards.

Does PS5 Pro come with liquid metal from the factory?+
Yes — Sony applied gallium-based liquid metal to the PS5 Pro APU at the factory, the same approach used in the base PS5. Over time and under heavy thermal cycling, this liquid metal can migrate off the die or degrade. Our service replaces it with fresh liquid metal and restores original cooling performance.
What actually changes after the service?+
Your PS5 Pro is cool and quiet again under 4K load — from an audible jet-engine ramp to near-silent, and it stops cutting out mid-session. We do not quote you a number of degrees: a console does not report its APU temperature to any software, so nobody can read it without soldering a probe to the board.
Will this void my Sony warranty?+
Opening the console voids the manufacturer warranty. We provide our own 90-day warranty covering the liquid metal application, thermal pad replacement and workmanship. If your Sony warranty has already expired, this service is the best way to restore peak cooling performance.
How long does the full service take?+
The complete PS5 Pro liquid metal + thermal pad service takes about 1.5 hours. This includes careful disassembly, thorough cleaning, liquid metal application, thermal pad replacement, precise reassembly and stress testing under 4K load.
Do you come to my location?+
Yes — most PS5 Pro cleaning is done at your home or office within Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. Travel is included in the price. Kerava and anywhere else beyond Kehä III: we still come, with €0.50/km on top and travel for agreed work only.
Is PS5 Pro harder to service than base PS5?+
The internal structure is very similar to PS5. Key differences: the vapor chamber is larger (more surface area, better thermal performance), and the GPU die is larger — liquid metal application requires slightly more precision to avoid the edges. We've serviced both models extensively and use the same ESD-safe bench for both.
