An Xbox that overheats isn't broken — it's clogged. Dust on the heatsink and dried paste on the APU push the fan to full speed and the console to a thermal shutdown. A clean fixes it.
The Series X and One X move a lot of air. When the vents clog, the fan spins flat out just to hold temperature — the roar you hear under load is dust, not a broken fan.
The console powers down during play, not in the menu. That's the thermal cut-off protecting the APU — a classic sign of dried paste and a dust-packed heatsink.
The top or rear grille blows noticeably hot air. Sat in a closed AV cabinet or media shelf, an Xbox traps its own heat and pulls in more dust than one out in the open.
A visible grey felt across the exhaust grille is the tell. It only gets worse — and the more it builds, the harder the fan works and the hotter the APU runs.
Heat is the silent killer.
Once the APU starts hitting its thermal limit every session, the damage compounds quietly. By the time the Xbox shuts off on its own, the cheap fix has already passed.
Sustained operation at the thermal ceiling accelerates wear on the chip. Performance and stability drop permanently — a later clean can't undo damage already done.
Repeated heating and cooling cracks the BGA joints under the APU and memory. Eventual symptom: random shutdowns, graphical artefacts, or a console that won't boot.
Once the APU has taken heat damage, the fix is a board-level repair or a replacement console — many times the price of a clean. An €89 clean today prevents that bill.
A clogged fan runs at higher RPM constantly to compensate. The bearing wears out in half its rated life, and the roar only gets worse until it fails.

Which Xbox models do you clean?+
Xbox Series X and Series S, and the previous generation Xbox One X and One S. The Series X and One X run the hottest and benefit most, but the compact Series S clogs quickly in a closed cabinet and is well worth a clean too.
How often should an Xbox be cleaned?+
Every 18–24 months for a console out in the open, every 12 months if it lives in a closed AV cabinet or a home with pets or a smoker. If the fan is already loud or the console has shut off mid-game, don't wait — book now.
Do you use liquid metal on the Xbox, like on the PS5?+
No. The PS5's APU is designed for liquid metal; the Xbox is not. We use a high-grade conventional thermal paste, which is exactly what the console is built for and what keeps it cool and safe. Liquid metal on an Xbox would be the wrong call.
What's the difference between servicing a Series X and a Series S?+
The Series X has a large single-fan vapour-chamber cooler that holds a lot of dust; the Series S is compact with a smaller heatsink that clogs faster for its size. Both get the same full teardown, clean and fresh paste — the Series X simply has more surface to clean.
Will this void my warranty?+
Opening the console voids the manufacturer warranty. If your Xbox is still under warranty, contact Microsoft first. For out-of-warranty consoles, our clean is the most cost-effective way to fix overheating, and we back the work with our own 90-day warranty.
Do you come to my location?+
Yes — most Xbox cleaning is done at your home or office across Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. Travel is included in the price. Kerava and anywhere else beyond Kehä III: we still come, with €0.50/km on top and travel for agreed work only.
