How do I know when the MacBook battery needs replacing?+
Open System Settings → Battery → Battery Health. If it says 'Service Recommended' (under 80 % capacity) or the cycle count is over 1000, it's time. Also: if your Mac shuts down unexpectedly above 20 %, or the runtime has dropped from 8–10 hours to 2–3, the battery is past its life. We check this for free before any work.
How long does MacBook battery replacement take?+
About 1–1.5 hours on-site. MacBook Air is a bit faster (no tri-wing screws on the logic board bracket). We book 2 hours to be safe — we won't rush if the old adhesive is stubborn.
Do you use genuine Apple batteries?+
We use cells that match Apple's original specifications for your exact model — same capacity, same connector, same BMS chip. These are not OEM Apple batteries (Apple doesn't sell those separately), but they register correctly in System Settings and carry our 90-day warranty.
Does opening the MacBook void the warranty?+
If your Mac is still under AppleCare+, opening it will void that specific coverage. Most MacBooks more than 1–2 years old are past warranty anyway. We give our own 90-day warranty on the replacement battery and labour.
What if the battery is swollen?+
Stop using the Mac immediately — swollen Li-ion cells can vent or ignite. Don't force the case. Contact us and we'll arrange an urgent visit. We handle swollen batteries with proper tools and dispose of the old cell safely.
Can you also clean the MacBook while you're here?+
Yes — we can combine battery replacement with a full cleaning (fan dust removal + thermal paste replacement, +€40). Many customers do both at once since the machine is already open.
A degraded battery
gets worse, not better.
Lithium cells don't recover. Each charge cycle the capacity drops a little more — waiting only shortens runtime and increases shutdown risk.
A battery at 60 % health shuts off randomly. At 50 % you can't trust it to last a video call. Work is interrupted multiple times a day.
macOS reduces CPU and GPU performance when the battery can't supply enough peak current. The Mac feels slow even on simple tasks.
Old cells can swell and push up the trackpad or bottom case. A swollen battery is a fire risk and makes the repair more complex (adhesive is harder to remove).
The most common reason people buy a new €1200+ MacBook is battery degradation — a €79–99 replacement fixes the same problem.
