Apple does not service Mac Minis for dust — they replace logic boards. We clean and re-paste, which fixes the problem at a fraction of the cost.
Spins hard just from a Zoom call or a browser with too many tabs. Dust on the heatsink fins forces the fan to compensate at full RPM.
Final Cut renders, Xcode builds or video encodes stop partway through. The CPU hits its thermal ceiling and the machine restarts to protect itself.
Closed AV racks and media shelves trap heat and pull in more dust than an open desk. A Mac Mini in a cabinet needs cleaning more often, not less.
A buzzing or clicking sound is usually dust or pet hair caught in the fan blades. Left alone, it wears the bearing out early.
Heat is the silent killer.
Once the CPU is running at its limit every day, the damage compounds quietly. By the time the Mac Mini restarts on its own, the bill is already a logic-board replacement.
Running at the thermal limit day after day accelerates electromigration. Performance drops permanently — even after a later cleaning, the chip won't recover its original speed.
Repeated heating and cooling cracks BGA joints under the CPU. Eventual symptom: random shutdowns or no display.
Apple's only fix for serious thermal damage is a logic-board swap — €500–€900 depending on model. €89 cleaning today prevents that bill.
A clogged fan runs at higher RPM constantly to compensate. The bearing wears in half the rated life. Replacing the fan is €60–€100 in parts alone.

Will this void my Apple warranty?+
Opening the case voids the Apple manufacturer warranty. If your Mac Mini is still under warranty (under 1 year, or under 3 with AppleCare+), book service through Apple instead. For older machines where the warranty has expired, our service is the most cost-effective way to restore cooling. We provide our own 90-day warranty on the work.
Which Mac Mini models do you service?+
2014 and 2018 Intel models, and Apple Silicon M1, M2 and M4 Mac Minis. The 2018 Intel model (especially the i7) is the one we see most often — its cooling was undersized from the factory and throttles hard once dusty.
Do Apple Silicon Mac Minis need this service?+
Less often than Intel ones, but yes. M1/M2/M4 Mac Minis run much cooler and the fan barely spins at idle, but dust still builds up on the heatsink over 3–4 years, especially if the machine lives in a closed cabinet. We'll tell you honestly on arrival if it actually needs a service or can wait.
Can you upgrade my Mac Mini's RAM or storage while you're there?+
Only on the 2018 Intel model — its RAM is in accessible SO-DIMM slots and we can upgrade it during the same visit. The 2014 model has RAM soldered to the board, and every Apple Silicon Mac Mini (M1 and later) has RAM and storage built into the chip — neither can be upgraded on any model. We'll check your exact model on arrival and tell you honestly what's possible.
How long does the service take?+
Cleaning + paste: about 1.5 hours. Full service with port and power supply checks: about 2 hours. We work on-site at your home or office — bring out a kettle, we'll bring back a quiet Mac Mini.
Do you come to my location?+
Yes — most Mac Mini cleaning is done at your home or office across Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa. Travel is included in the price. Kerava and anywhere else beyond Kehä III: we still come, with €0.50/km on top and travel for agreed work only.
